The Southern Lake District are nestled amongst rolling hills and cobbled streets of Dentdale and neighbouring Sedbergh and Kirkby Lonsdale - small towns steeped in history and tradition. There's a wealth of places to visit. A walkers' paradise, the Lake District offers so much to seasoned walkers or newcomers alike.
A visit to Grasmere, Ambleside and Windermere is a must - small towns surrounded by beautiful lakes and fells. The stunning scenery here inspired the literary greats William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. The former homes of Wordsworth, Dove Cottage in Grasmere and Rydal Mount in nearby Rydal, are all well worth a visit. No holiday to the Lake District is complete without a relaxing cruise aboard one of the steamers on Windermere, England's longest lake.
